Thanks for all the well wishes! I am so in love its crazy..

So.. as some know I have 3 boys prior to Miss Kate. they were 9lbs14oz 15 hour labor went spontaneous, 8lbs 13 oz induced 7 hour labor and 8lbs even, induced 4.5 hour labor in order.

So we *knew* that she would come super quick and probably be small..

we were very, very wrong.

Last Friday I was 1 cm dialated and she was engaged..
Monday I went in for my induction got my pitocin at 7. my doc came in at 9 to break my water and fully expected a baby by 10.

doc checked me and i was still a 1 and she was no longer engaged. in fact when the nurses checked me they would push on her head and she floated back up into my chest!!
so my doc couldn't break my water yet. He said he would come back at 12. 12 came and he called and asked the nurse to check me. I was only at 2cm and she was still not
coming down. about 2oclock the nurse mentioned sending me home if i don't progress further. they had my pitocin full strength but my contractions just weren't very
strong/regular. They had me sit up in bed and by 3:30 i was at 5cm and 90% effaced. i had the epidural done since i have a history of progressing quickly after my water
breaks. and the last 2 times i waited to long for the epi and felt everything!! gaah! so go my epi it worked for the most part. doc broke my water at 5:00 and he called his wife and told her he
wouldn't be home for dinner/bedtime! my sweet nurse who was with me all day checked me aroun 6:45 as i was feeling slight pressure. she said page me when it intesify's. no problem. 7:15 i felt like i had a
10lb bowling ball in my bottom.. paged the nurse..she came running.. and was like.. uhh yea.. shes crowning!! lol! doc came running pushed a couple of times and out came Emily Kate! at 7:30..
everything was soo calm during pushing.. my doc even talked one of the local college students through it all. it was so funny she was schoked it went soo smoothly no screaming/tearing. my doc called it textbook!

she is soo round!! everyone started guessing how much she would weigh. got a couple 8lbs, 8lbs 6oz.. they were all very wrong.. 9lbs1oz!! hahaha!

in the end she is the second biggest and second longest delivery!

Maternity Leave Begins!!

If you have a newborn(newborn is up to 3 weeks old) call me and i will get you in. this is the only sessions i will be taking while on maternity leave

I will begin shooting sessions again May 26th. and we will also be taking weeknight sessions during the summer.

you find out interesting things when you have sons, like...

1. A king size waterbed holds enough water to fill a 2000 sq.. ft. house 4 inches deep.

2. If you spray hair spray on dust bunnies and run over them with roller blades, they can ignite.

3. A 3-year old Boy's voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant.

4. If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong enough to rotate a 42 pound Boy wearing Batman underwear and a Superman cape. It is strong enough, however, if tied to a paint can, to spread paint on all four walls of a 20x20 ft. room.

5. You should not throw baseballs up when the ceiling fan is on. When using a ceiling fan as a bat, you have to throw the ball up a few times before you get a hit. A ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way.

6. The glass in windows (even double-pane) doesn't stop a baseball hit by a ceiling fan.

7. When you hear the toilet flush and the words "uh oh", it's already too late.

8. Brake fluid mixed with Clorox makes smoke, and lots of it.

9. A six-year old Boy can start a fire with a flint rock even though a 36-year old Man says they can only do it in the movies.

10. Certain Lego's will pass through the digestive tract of a 4- year old Boy.

11. Play dough and microwave should not be used in the same sentence.

12. Super glue is forever.

13. No matter how much Jell-O you put in a swimming pool you still can't walk on water.

14. Pool filters do not like Jell-O.

15. VCR's do not eject "PB & J" sandwiches even though TV commercials show they do.

16. Garbage bags do not make good parachutes.

17. Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise when driving.

18. You probably DO NOT want to know what that odor is.

19. Always look in the oven before you turn it on; plastic toys do not like ovens.

20. The fire department in Augusta, Ga has a 5-minute response time.

21. The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earthworms dizzy.

22. It will, however, make cats dizzy.

23. Cats throw up twice their body weight when dizzy.

24. 80% of Women will pass this on to almost all of their friends, with or without kids.

Operation Love ReUnited

I’m sure that one of you knows someone or has personally experienced a military deployment. As a former military wife with three small boys and a princess coming, I personally know how hard it is to watch someone who you love so dearly, the one who supports your family, your best friend walk away from his life to quite possibly give it to his country. These moments are very precious. Some of these moments could be the last ones that a family has of their son, daughter, husband, wife, daddy or mommy when they are leaving on a deployment, especially to a war zone.

According to Lieutenant General James J. Lovelace, the Army's director of operations, he estimates that 75 percent of the active-duty Army of about 520,00 troops has served at least one overseas tour since September 2001. Of those, an estimated 100,000 have already served two or more tours during the same period.

Those numbers, our heart and love for our profession and art as photographers, our being as mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters of our finest American Citizens is EXACTLY why I founded Operation: Love ReUnited. OpLove, as we refer to the foundation as short, is a group of over 100 photographers across the nation and a few even overseas, who have come together to give back to the ones who ask for nothing, but to come home. We offer deploying/deployed families the opportunity to capture quite possibly some of the most important times in their lives on film…..

“Saying Goodbye” or “Come Home Soon”, and “Welcome Home.”

We agree to waive our session fees and capture touching, emotional moments of these special families in their hardest time and at their happiest. We arrange an easy to store and carry 4x6 album of the images and send them overseas as a gift to the family to remind the deployed soldier of the reason he or she is doing what they are, for this fine country and it’s citizens, and their beautiful families. Many of the photographers offer additional gifts or discounts, some packages valuing in at over $700. Nicole Ryan Photography will be personally giving each family 2 4x6 albums one for the spouse deployed and one for e the family waiting for them to come home.

Since the founding of the program in September 2006, we have helped many, many families from all corners of the nation. If a family happens to hear about the program in midst of a deployment, we treat a session much like one before they depart from each other- but send the album over as a surprise. When the soldiers come home we travel to the airport where they are being reunited with their families, many of their actually MEETING their babies for the first time! The reunions are so emotional most spouses who DO remember their cameras, forget they are even holding them.

Out shopping for the princess I cam across Baby Banks Boutique.Off Fury's Ferry road near riverwatch.
They have the cutest stuff in there for newborns-toddlers and up!! I got the sweetest car seat cover(perfect for converting Christophers Boy seat to a sweet girly one for Kate!)

I aslo found the coolest chenille diaper covers for boys and girls! perfect for portraits!! I grabbed a few for the studio!

Resolutions

Yea, yea I am kind of late... but I am still making some!

so here they are:

1. Take more snapshots of my kids. I need remember those moments as well. They are just as important as the professional shots. Point and shoot cameras have thier place and I need to get mine out more.

2. Update the blog once a week. If I fail to update it weekly YOU will recive something special ;)

3. Finish any task I start. I am the queen of unfinished projects.. Floors, studio, cleaning..etc. If I start I will finish!!

So in the spirit of my resolutions Here are some bathtub snapshots of my kids to share with you.

As many of you know I am a mom to my three sweet boys and baking the princess. In order for me to continue with my quality of work and give enough attention to my children I will only be taking sessions on weekends Saturday and Sundays. I will however take two each day. One in the morning and one in the afternoon/evening. This way my husband will be able to be home with the munchkins.
This will only be until my maternity leave is up. Once I return to work this summer. I will take sessions after 5:00 on weekdays and one a day on the weekends.

Also all Ordering/proofing sessions will take place in my home office. Even if we did your session at your home.

What a sweet family. I have to say they were very openminded about some of my nutty suggestions. They have opted for a later odering session so their mother can be there So they won;t see the full set of proofs for a while. I know that would drive me insane!! LOL! See not only can they make goofy faces and not follow directions During a session they can flat out POUT!

I was actually asked by brenden to do these after the "Y" Family left yesterday. they had brought their 3 year old over that brenden had obviously become attached to. Well my husband took my kids out for ice cream and when they got back "g" and his family were done and gone. Brenden was very sad that he had left and wanted to know if he would come back tommorrow (LOL).
I may take him to the ordering session with me so they can play again. anyway back to the point He said "well will you take my picture since "g" went home??" mommy thinking-"uh yea!" lol.. WELL I put the dog in there he didn't want the dog and this is what I got! hehehe

Ok so I am partial to these ones specifically but I hope to have some more babies to share with you by the end of september. I have a bunch booked including a squishy newborn!!

So.. texture. I will be asking all of my clients doing childrens sessions to bring something wiht texture. You ask.. what do you mean texture..Well a pretty knit hat or a crocheted balnket or a colorful scarf.

Anything from here is great texture. I hope to get some of these for the studio as well.

And for those thinking my kids love being/easy to photographed.. here is evidence to the contrary.. see even the photographers kids have their days!- Not that i even mind the toungue..but it is EVERY ONE!LOL..Little toots!

Admist the hustle and bustle of everyday life sometimes I forget to take in whats around me. My husband and I are putting in a playground for the kiddos and have really been working hard. The heat is killer. I don't cope well with 100 plus degree days outside. Last night I was very cranky and tired.. putting togethor the ladder. look up and there it was.. so peacfeful and serene.. soemone telling me to slow down..enjoy this time..this day...right now.

My Boys.

They are very good models. even the baby.

My mother is taking them to her house while we finish our renovation. So I decided to snug with the chunkin munchkin for a while and take some shots.. he was sooo giggly. But you would never know by these shots!

And of course my Big Guys.. they have the greatest eyes. Telling such a story..One of Mayhem and destruction some days ;)

Yep, ALL day long. On the bed, off the swing, into the pool. Anywhere. Boys have No fear!I try to be "The cool mom" and rough house around but this is one activity that I sit back and watch. I am just waiting for the broken bones! Although these are some of my favorite types of portraits. This is them, now. Who they are. I can hear the giggles just looking at these photographs.

When I first started photographing people it was mostly children. Mainly because they were MY children! I did a session with my sister-in-law as well as some other "adults" They just never seemed to turn out the way I envisioned.
Now, I don't know if that was lack of knowledge of my camera or what but they were NOT my best work. So I stopped doing them and focused on children and have been happy wiht my decision.

I am currently in Florida at my parents Visitng. and My best friend Stacy asks me if I would mind doing shots of her friend for her birthday. So I am thinking.."well is she under 10 years old?" hehehe. What i actually I said was "Anything for you, Stacy". So I get here..just shy of a panic attack. I have prepped and planned as much as possible. We get to the beach and this girl is BEAUTIFUL!!! YEA! So thats one thing going for me. Despite my previous hesistation Stacy helps pose her and hold the reflector and i shoot like a 100 shots.

I could see how great they were through the viewfinder I could only imagine how great they would be after I edited them. I am still away from my home computer but I managed to proof a few teasers and I can NOT wait to print these.

So After all that rambling your asking.."Ok..so whats the point, here?"
Well, Heres where I ask your opinion. What do you think about Nicole Ryan expanding to accomadate the Senior/Teen crowd?
Are these something you might want as a 20 something?
